Blu Dot's second New York store fills three levels and about 14,000 square feet at 58th and Lexington. Peterson Rich Office cut a hole through the slab and dropped a steel stair into it to tie the showroom floors together, then had the whole thing painted one tomato red: stringers, treads, guards and handrails.
“A graphic steel stair, inserted into a dramatic slab cut, physically and visually connects the main showrooms.”Peterson Rich Office, project description
We built the stair and the millwork for Hirsch Construction. A one-color stair hides nothing. Every weld, every plate edge and every handrail bracket reads, so all of it had to be clean before paint, and it was set through a slab opening in a working building on Lexington Avenue.
The showroom made the Dezeen Awards 2024 longlist for large retail interiors.
